About Me

The profile image is of my Dad Milton Harker, his father Joseph is buried in the Church of  St Thomas grounds he died 23 May 1920.  We have been and sighted the grave which also has his Mother Deborah with him.   Josephs wife Elizabeth (nee Kendall) bought my Dad over here to New Zealand when he was about 18years old.   I am named after her Elizabeth Ann.   Joseph and Elizabeth had 7 children and my Dad Milton was the youngest and the story I have been told is that the Minister came to visit and asked my Grandmother what she was going to call this new baby and she answered that she had used up all of the family names so it was he who suggested Milton.  I guess this would have been the minister of St Thomas church in 1904 the year my Dad was born.  Only one of the sons Joseph stayed back and I believe there are family members still living in Crook.   I was very moved when we visited the Church and grounds and to see my Grandfathers grave and resting place.  My Grandmother his wife died just after I was born so I didnt know either of them.
